Band 6 Locum Occupational Therapist – Acute Medicine | West London

We are currently seeking an experienced, proactive, and enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic Acute Medicine team in a busy West London hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across a range of specialist services, including:

• Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Respiratory Medicine
• Cardiology
• Enhanced Care
• Surgical Wards

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patients with complex rehabilitation needs, particularly those stepping down from ICU, while facilitating safe and timely discharges.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, treat, and rehabilitate patients across a variety of acute clinical settings.
• Manage complex rehabilitation programmes for patients following critical illness and ICU admission.
• Lead and coordinate effective discharge planning to ensure safe transitions of care.
• Work autonomously in a fast-paced acute environment, prioritising a varied caseload.
• Collaborate closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
• Provide flexible cross-cover across the designated clinical areas as service demands require.

Essential Requirements

• HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
• Previous Band 6 experience, or equivalent, within an acute hospital setting.
• Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
• Proven experience in discharge planning and complex case management.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and perform effectively under pressure.
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working skills.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience in ICU, respiratory medicine, cardiology, enhanced care, or surgical wards.
• Experience managing patients requiring complex rehabilitation following critical illness.
• A keen interest in acute medicine and developing specialist clinical skills within these areas.
