Band 6 Locum Occupational Therapist – Prison Mental Health Substance Misue

Are you a passionate Occupational Therapist looking for a rewarding new locum opportunity where you can make a real difference? JustOT is currently recruiting for a Band 6 Locum Occupational Therapist to join a prison-based substance misuse service in the West Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced OT who is confident working within a complex environment and is looking to use their skills to support individuals with meaningful rehabilitation, recovery, and occupational goals.

The Role:

As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting service users within a custodial setting. You will use your clinical expertise to assess occupational needs, develop personalised interventions, and help individuals build skills and routines that support recovery and future community reintegration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Completing occupational assessments and identifying individual strengths, needs, and goals
• Delivering evidence-based OT interventions to support recovery and independence
• Supporting individuals with complex needs, including those affected by substance misuse
• Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals and wider prison services
• Managing a clinical caseload and maintaining high standards of documentation
• Promoting engagement in meaningful occupation and positive lifestyle changes

Requirements:

• HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
• Previous experience at Band 6 level or equivalent
• Experience working within mental health, forensic, prison, substance misuse, or complex care settings is desirable
• Strong communication, assessment, and intervention skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
