Client Group: Children with Neuro-Disabilities – Specialist Schools

Sponsorship: Not Available

Essential Experience: EHCPs & Knowledge of sensory integration theory and practice

A specialist organisation based in Aylesbury is seeking a motivated Band 5/6 Occupational Therapist to join its dedicated therapy team, supporting children with neurodisabilities in specialist school settings. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your paediatric occupational therapy expertise.

Job Role

• Seeking an enthusiastic Band 5/6 Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated specialist therapy team.

• Band 5 therapists will enter a supported rotational post, designed to build confidence, broaden experience, and develop core paediatric competencies through structured supervision and development across commissioned school settings.

• Band 6 therapists will work with greater autonomy, applying established clinical reasoning skills while continuing to develop specialist knowledge and professional judgement within commissioned services.

• Support children and young people aged 5–16 across specialist schools in Aylesbury, delivering high-quality assessment and intervention in areas including sensory processing, emotional regulation, hand skills, motor development, and functional independence.

• Work as part of a small, supportive, and professionally accountable therapy team, with close supervision and collaboration from senior therapists and specialist practitioners.

• While all therapists receive senior support, Band 6 clinicians will take a more active role in clinical decision-making and team contribution.

• An interest in sensory integration, assistive technology, or functional skills development is highly desirable. Experience in schools or multidisciplinary teams is beneficial but not essential—the right attitude and willingness to develop are equally valued.

Requirements

• University degree in Occupational Therapy (Essential)

• Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) (Essential)

• Sensory Integration and/or Bobath qualification (Desirable)

• Newly qualified candidates, as well as those currently working at Band 5 or Band 6 level, are encouraged to apply.

• Band 6 applicants should be confident in managing their own caseload and contributing proactively to team discussions.

• Band 5 applicants should demonstrate a willingness to learn, reflect, and develop within a structured rotational programme.

• A commitment to child- and family-centred care, compassion, innovation, and professional development.

• Equal opportunities employer committed to diversity and inclusion.

• An enhanced DBS check will be required as part of the safer recruitment process.

Benefits

• Term-time only

• Comprehensive induction and ongoing training

• Excellent Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities

• Contributory pension scheme (up to 4%)

• Cycle to Work scheme
