Specialist Occupational Therapist (Permanent)

Location: Surrey

Salary: £39,418 - £41,332 (T3.1 – T3.3)

Hours: 35 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks) plus 3 additional weeks during school closure periods. Includes a generous 10 weeks' leave during school closure periods.

Client Group: Special School

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist day and residential primary school in Surrey for a permanent Specialist Occupational Therapist. The school supports up to 75 pupils aged 4–11 years with Speech and Language Disorders and associated needs, including children with high-functioning Autism.

Job Role

• Deliver occupational therapy services within a school-based setting, supporting pupils to achieve their learning and developmental goals. 

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualised intervention programmes tailored to identified needs. 

• Work autonomously to plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic interventions. 

• Provide one-to-one and small-group therapy sessions in specialist treatment areas and functional environments. 

• Support participation, functional independence, and meaningful engagement in educational and daily activities. 

• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, families, and multidisciplinary professionals to promote positive outcomes. 

• Adapt interventions across various settings to enhance learning, participation, and overall wellbeing. 

• Maintain accurate clinical records and monitor progress to ensure effective, evidence-based practice. 

Requirements

• Qualified Occupational Therapist 

• HCPC Registered 

• Experience working with children with special educational needs 

• Excellent communication skills
