We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a specialist residential service across four South East London locations. This is a 4-day per week opportunity supporting predominantly adults aged 18–65 with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and, in some cases, a history of substance misuse.

- Salary: Band 5 £26,173. (pro rata for 4 days per week)
- Band 6 - £30,175 (pro rata for 4 days per week)
- Client Group: supporting predominantly adults aged 18–65 with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and, in some cases.
The successful candidate will work closely with service users, the Therapy Team, Rehabilitation Coaches, and wider multidisciplinary professionals to deliver high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation programmes that promote independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess clients with complex needs and develop specialist rehabilitation programmes based on sound clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and professional expertise.
- Evaluate factors affecting activities of daily living and allocate clients to the appropriate rehabilitation pathway.
- Lead and coordinate all aspects of client care relevant to the assigned pathway.
- Support the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) by interpreting assessments and contributing recommendations to the wider rehabilitation process.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external therapists, stakeholders, and professionals to ensure the highest standards of client-centred care.
- Plan, implement, and review therapeutic interventions that enhance wellbeing and rehabilitation outcomes.
- Maximise functional ability, reduce dependency on services, and support individuals to achieve greater independence.
- Complete admission, discharge, and periodic assessments, including MDT transfer meetings.
- Set agreed rehabilitation goals, monitor progress, and take responsibility for key rehabilitation KPIs linked to client progression, wellbeing, and engagement.
- Provide training and guidance to service users and staff to promote functional independence.
- Work closely with the Lead Neuro Consultant to deliver induction, routine, and ad hoc staff training.
- Advise on equipment, environmental adaptations, and modifications to support daily living.
- Develop strong community links to enable timely access to external resources and adaptations.
- Maintain accurate case records and prepare reports to evidence progress and support recommendations for ongoing care or referral.
- Liaise with Local Authorities, external agencies, and healthcare partners as required.
- Contribute to service development projects, care pathway improvements, and measurable outcome reporting.
- Support Integrated Care Plans (ICPs) and transdisciplinary working across the service.
- Attend meetings relating to service planning, development, and quality improvement.
- Build external partnerships, community links, and professional networks.
Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent professional qualification.
- Current HCPC Registration.
- Relevant post-qualification experience, ideally within Brain Injury / Neuro Rehabilitation Services.
- Experience working at senior level within Health & Social Care settings.
- Strong understanding of person-centred support planning.
- Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence commissioners, service users, and clinical/non-clinical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of regulatory and statutory frameworks relevant to health and social care services.
- Experience managing budgets and delivering service objectives would be advantageous.
