Role Purpose
As the school's Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), promoting wellbeing, independence, and life skills through therapeutic practice and collaboration with staff and external professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Pupils
* Assess and identify pupils requiring additional support.
* Plan and deliver 1:1 and small group interventions based on EHCP requirements.
* Help pupils develop independence and life skills (e.g., cookery, transport).
* Provide ongoing reports and progress updates for annual and termly reviews.
* Create an inclusive environment that enables every pupil to achieve their potential.
Working with Staff
* Collaborate with the SENCO, teachers, and teaching assistants (TAs).
* Offer professional advice, training, and supervision to staff.
* Support integration of occupational therapy into the school's wider approach to
learning and wellbeing.
* Ensure staff are equipped to support pupils with occupational health needs.
Working with Parents & External Agencies
* Liaise with parents and carers about pupil progress and interventions.
* Work in partnership with external agencies and professionals as directed by the SENCO or Headteacher.
Safeguarding and Compliance
* Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding in line with statutory guidance (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education, PREVENT).
* Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to promote pupil welfare and share concerns when appropriate.
* Comply with all school safeguarding and child protection policies.
