A fantastic opportunity based in Dubai with one of our private clients for an Occupational Therapist.

Our client work in collaboration with parents and professionals.
Out-Reach Service is available at selected schools and nurseries in Dubai, facilitating 1:1 and/or group therapy, supporting teachers and students with Special Education Needs (SEN).

The centre is equipped with a sensory gym, a multi-sensory Snoezelen room and several therapy rooms suitable for 1:1 therapy as well as small group settings. The therapists have the advantage of working within a multi-disciplinary team.

Client Group : Intervention & Therapy Centre - Children

Job Role:

  • To hold a defined clinical caseload, combined with being an identified resource within the clinical setting
  • To plan and deliver a child-centred occupational therapy service to a personal caseload of children and their families/ carers in an outpatient setting. This will include seeing children individually and/or in groups as appropriate.
  • Through analysis and synthesis of findings, develop individual goal-oriented treatment and intervention plans in collaboration with the child (as appropriate), family/ carers and MDT. This will include the application of skills to assess motor, sensory and cognitive function in the context of the child's social and physical environment.
  • To utilise specialist occupational therapy skills in the assessment of the parent/guardian's understanding of treatment proposals, to gain valid informed consent for interventions and to work within a legal framework where consent issues are complex.
  • To assess, prescribe, arrange provision and installation of specialised equipment and adaptations including seating, wheelchairs and pressure relieving equipment.
  • To ensure children's reviews demonstrate clinical reasoning and problem-solving techniques to determine agreed outcomes across healthcare.
  • To undertake risk assessments to determine appropriate management, specifically related to moving and handling and the safe use of equipment.
  • Specific cases may warrant home assessments or assessments in other environments.
  • To ensure safety for self and others during all occupational therapy interventions in school, child's home, centre and other appropriate environments.
  • To apply an understanding of factors influencing child development and of the effect of disability on the child's occupational performance and the family.
  • Provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the child's environment.
  • To communicate and liaise effectively with other professionals, patients, family/carers and other agencies to ensure an integrated pattern of service delivery.
  • To use formal and informal reporting mechanisms including electronic reporting, to ensure effective communication related to health care referral procedures.
  • To routinely provide advice, education and support to children and their families/ carers as part of the occupational therapy process.
  • To adopt a child and family-centred treatment approach to support meaningful participation in life roles.
  • Use verbal and nonverbal communication to receive and disseminate clinical information, acknowledging sensitivity and complexity e.g. child safeguarding issues, and using approaches appropriate to the context or culture.
  • Use of effective interpersonal skills to encourage children, families/ carers and staff's active participation in the occupational therapy process.
  • To provide services which are sensitive to the needs of the culture and diversity of individual children and their families/ carers.
  • To promote educationally based occupational therapy through liaison with other health professionals, children/ families and carers, education staff, and the public and by establishing professional and departmental standards in clinical and managerial work.

In order to qualify for this job must have:

  • At least Bachelors degree (NO to short-term diploma/certificate due to licensing requirement)
  • At least 5 year post-graduate experience
  • DHA license or DHA eligibility letter (preferred)
  • With driving license or experience (advantage)
  • Good level of written and spoken English
