Our client is looking for an Occupational Therapist to work as a Lead Activities Coordinator based in London.

Permanent Lead Activities Co-ordinator (New Position)

Salary: £29,120 per year

Hours: 9:30am – 5:30pm

Location: North London 2 x vacancies – Enfield & Finchley

About the Role

We are excited to introduce a new and pivotal role within our care homes. As our Lead Activities Co-ordinator, you will play a vital part in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by creating and delivering engaging, meaningful, and inclusive activity programmes.

This is a hands-on, creative position suited to someone who is passionate about supporting older adults to stay socially connected, physically active, and mentally stimulated. You will help shape a vibrant, supportive environment where residents feel valued, involved, and inspired.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and lead a varied programme of activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities
  • Promote social interaction, physical engagement, and cognitive stimulation
  • Build strong links with the local community and develop external partnerships
  • Recruit, manage, and support volunteers
  • Ensure activities meet safeguarding, regulatory, and safety standards
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere across the home

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant qualification in social care, recreational therapy, or a related field (e.g. Level 3 QCF Supporting the Activities Provision, Occupational Therapy degree, or similar)
  • At least one additional certification in arts therapy, music therapy, or community engagement
  • Proven experience planning and delivering activities for older adults, ideally in a care home with 60+ beds
  • Strong understanding of the physical, emotional, and social needs of older adults
  • Knowledge of best practice in residential care activity programming
  • Awareness of safeguarding and regulatory requirements

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) qualifications and training
  • Experience managing volunteers and coordinating community involvement
  • Background in event or programme coordination within health or social care
  • Confident leading group activities and workshops
  • Familiarity with local community resources and partnership opportunities
