The possibilities for occupational therapists have been outlined by a newspaper.
According to the Guardian, a number of options exist for such professionals outside of the health service.
Such people could work in charities, where salaries could be approximately £30,000.
They may also become drug rehabilitation workers as they have training in mental health issues, or even freelance for up to £500 a day.
Occupational therapists could work in the statutory sector as well, helping people who have been unemployed because of health reasons to get back into the workplace permanently.
There is also the option of working for a local authority within social services, where one's remit could include helping disabled people at home.
Patients use occupational therapists to help them regain independence after suffering from physical and mental illnesses.
Such medical professionals may take a three-year BSc to qualify, but a two-year fast-track course exists for people with other undergraduate degrees.
