Occupational therapists involved in expanded service in Hampshire
Wednesday 12th May 2010
A number of people with occupational therapy jobs are involved in a project intended to help elderly people remain in their homes in Hampshire.
Recently, the Community Innovations service was expanded to 16 teams, each of which contain a nurse, community support worker, community development worker and social worker, as well as an occupational therapist.
The professionals provide support and guidance on a range of issues, including keeping warm and eating healthily.
A number of parties are involved in the scheme, including Hampshire Community Health Care, the local Well Being Partnerships and Hampshire County Council, which is headquartered in Winchester.
Executive member for adult social care at the authority Felicity Hindson said: "It's great that Community Innovations has expanded its service. It plays such a pivotal role in local communities."
She added that it helps older people to remain in their homes and the expansion will mean that more elderly individuals will be able to access the help they need.
