The role occupational therapists play in the implementation of the Scottish government's drug strategy has been explored.
Students from Robert Gordon University (RGU) launched their research in May last year.
They showcased their findings during a conference held last month at a hotel in Glasgow.
The government's approach is referred to as The Road to Recovery strategy.
Occupational therapy lecturer at RGU Stephanie Morrison said: "The training that the students receive at the University equips them with the skills and knowledge to respond to the aims of The Road to Recovery strategy."
Meanwhile, co-author of the research Claire Watt added that occupational therapy enables people to achieve wellbeing, health and life satisfaction through everyday activities.
The study looked at how a person with addiction to drugs can be enabled to recover by being taught the skills to adapt and cope with such activities, she added.
RGU offers a range of courses in addition to occupational therapy, including nursing, science and health sciences.
