Occupational Therapist scheme announced
Monday 16th February 2009
A new scheme is to get underway in Shrewsbury and Atcham to help vulnerable, older and disabled people get greater support to remain in their homes.
Entitled Occupational Therapist, the initiative is being coordinated by Severnside Housing, Shrewsbury and Atcham borough council and Shropshire county council.
Scheduled to run for an initial period of three years, the project will aim to ensure that the right adaptations are made to people's houses quickly and efficiently, 24dash reports.
"By funding ... Occupational Therapist for three years, we can not only help to clear the backlog of cases affecting Severnside tenants, but also ensure any new applications are ones that are processed in much shorter timescales," stated Matthew Spittles, asset management director at Severnside Housing.
Meanwhile, the Nottingham Evening Post recently revealed that a number of people with occupational therapy jobs are to be involved in a project designed to help people with Asperger's syndrome.
Two teams of medical professionals are to be set up in Nottingham to provide services to sufferers.
