Medical jobs may be created in Bedfordshire if plans go through
Thursday 8th January 2009
A number of medical jobs - potentially including occupational therapist roles - may be created in Bedfordshire if plans to construct a multi-million pound health centre go through.
A second public meeting concerning the proposals is taking place today (January 8th).
Officials at NHS Bedfordshire - which employs more than 1,200 staff and serves a population of over 420,000 - say that the centre would lead to improvements in the services received by patients.
Andrew Morgan, chief executive of NHS Bedfordshire, said: "This is an important proposal for patients in Shefford and the surrounding villages.
"The consultation closes in three weeks and I hope people will come along to this final public meeting and ask more questions or make comments."
If the plans go ahead and work runs smoothly, the new medical centre could open its doors to patients by the end of 2010 or, failing that, early in 2011.
