Our client is looking for an experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist in Norwich, their services include Brain Injury Rehabilitation, Mental Health Care, Respite Care, Residential Care, and specialist neurological support.

The service is a purpose-built care home in Norfolk providing en-suite accommodation for 18 residents with neurological conditions. It is designed to support individuals with physical disabilities or neurological conditions and includes the following facilities:

• 18 en-suite bedrooms

• Gymnasium

• Hydrotherapy bath

• Private resident gardens

• Rehabilitation kitchen

• Internal courtyard therapy room

Job Purpose

• Work as an autonomous practitioner, providing a flexible and comprehensive Occupational Therapy service within designated clinical areas.

• Provide day-to-day supervision of unqualified staff.

• Participate in audit, research, and service development activities.

• Promote Occupational Therapy to clients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.

• Liaise and work collaboratively with other agencies and service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and treat a designated caseload of clients while maintaining accurate clinical records as an autonomous practitioner.

• Arrange and participate in regular support and supervision with a designated Senior Occupational Therapist.

• Participate in Clinical Governance and Continuous Professional Development activities.

• Maintain high standards of professional practice in accordance with the HCPC standards and the College of Occupational Therapists' Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

• Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own practice.

• Use evidence-based practice and contribute to multidisciplinary audit and research to improve clinical outcomes.

• Prioritise and manage your own caseload effectively.

• Plan and deliver appropriate treatment interventions in partnership with clients wherever possible.

• Independently assess and deliver interventions addressing clients' personal, psychological, and spiritual needs relating to self-care, leisure, and productivity.

• Contribute to the differential diagnosis of complex cases through cognitive and functional assessments alongside the multidisciplinary team.

• Deliver and evaluate individual and group treatment programmes.

• Assess discharge risks to ensure safe and timely discharge planning.

• Manage challenging situations appropriately and seek support when required.

• Communicate sensitive information effectively with clients, families, and carers using specialist communication skills.

• Liaise with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to ensure coordinated care.

• Provide advice and education to clients and carers, including the safe use of equipment.

• Communicate assessment findings and treatment outcomes to relevant healthcare professionals and participate in case conferences.

• Plan and undertake pre- and post-discharge home visits where appropriate and implement recommendations arising from assessments.

Requirements

• HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.

• Previous experience working as a Neurological Occupational Therapist.

• Previous experience working within a care home setting.

• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
