Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Permanent

We have a fantastic permanent opportunity for a Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join a specialist clinic. The successful candidate will provide specialist occupational therapy services to children aged 0–16 years. Children may present with a variety of diagnoses including Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyspraxia, Cerebral Palsy, Dyslexia, Speech and Language Delay/Disorders, Global Developmental Delay, and Neurological Disorders.

Job Role

• Work as an autonomous practitioner managing a clinical caseload.

• Undertake assessments of children using both standardised and informal assessment tools.

• Demonstrate clinical reasoning skills, interpret assessment findings, and produce high-quality clinical assessment reports.

• Develop child- and family-centred treatment plans using goal attainment scaling and a range of therapeutic techniques to maximise each child's potential.

• Deliver one-to-one and small group therapy sessions within the clinic.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.

• Provide a high-quality service to children and their families.

• Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to promote patient safety and manage risk.

Requirements

• Recognised Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy.

• HCPC Registration (Licence to Practise).

• Evidence of successful completion of relevant postgraduate courses.

• Evidence of attendance at specialist paediatric courses.

Experience

• Clinical experience across a broad range of paediatric settings, including clinical or educational environments.

• Experience coordinating intervention planning in paediatrics.

• Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyspraxia, Sensory Processing Disorder, Neurological Disorders, and other complex needs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal, observation, listening, and empathy skills.

• Strong clinical reasoning, analytical, and reflective practice skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a busy clinical environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex information to other professionals.

• High level of computer literacy for report writing, documentation, and data management.

• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.

• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Knowledge of clinical governance and audit principles.

• Understanding of the roles of other healthcare professionals.

• Ability to work with children with complex communication needs.

• Sound knowledge of paediatric assessment tools.

• Knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions and the ability to evaluate their benefits and outcomes.
