Client Group : Intervention & Therapy Centre Children
Our client work in collaboration with parents and professionals. Out-Reach Service is available at selected schools and nurseries in Dubai, facilitating 1:1 and/or group therapy, supporting teachers and students with Special Education Needs (SEN). The centre is equipped with a sensory gym, a multi-sensory Snoezelen room and several therapy rooms suitable for 1:1 therapy as well as small group settings. The therapists have the advantage of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Job Role:
To hold a defined clinical caseload, combined with being an identified resource within the clinical setting
To assist in the development and research of paediatric occupational therapy services, and other service reviews.
To hold responsibility for defined projects.
To comply with the Dubai Health Authority and College of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
To plan and deliver a child-centred occupational therapy service to a personal caseload of children and their families/ carers in an outpatient setting. This will include seeing children individually and/or in groups as appropriate.
Through analysis and synthesis of findings, develop individual goal-oriented treatment and intervention plans in collaboration with the child (as appropriate), family/ carers and MDT. This will include the application of skills to assess motor, sensory and cognitive function in the context of the childs social and physical environment.
To utilise specialist occupational therapy skills in the assessment of the parent/guardians understanding of treatment proposals, to gain valid informed consent for interventions and to work within a legal framework where consent issues are complex.
To autonomously manage, treat and discharge a diagnostically varied and complex patient caseload.
To assess, prescribe, arrange provision and installation of specialised equipment and adaptations including seating, wheelchairs and pressure relieving equipment.
To facilitate clients transitions from nursery to school, between classes and from school to adult services.
To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment to measure progress and ensure the effectiveness of intervention.
To ensure childrens reviews demonstrate clinical reasoning and problem-solving techniques to determine agreed outcomes across healthcare.
To undertake risk assessments to determine appropriate management, specifically related to moving and handling and the safe use of equipment. Specific cases may warrant home assessments or assessments in other environments. To ensure safety for self and others during all occupational therapy interventions in school, childs home, centre and other appropriate environments.
To apply an understanding of factors influencing child development and of the effect of disability on the childs occupational performance and the family. Provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the childs environment.
To demonstrate clinical knowledge underpinned by current evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
To communicate and liaise effectively with other professionals, patients, family/carers and other agencies to ensure an integrated pattern of service delivery.
To use formal and informal reporting mechanisms including electronic reporting, to ensure effective communication related to health care referral procedures.
To routinely provide advice, education and support to children and their families/ carers as part of the occupational therapy process. To adopt a child and family-centred treatment approach to support meaningful participation in life roles.
Use verbal and nonverbal communication to receive and disseminate clinical information, acknowledging sensitivity and complexity e.g. child safeguarding issues, and using approaches appropriate to the context or culture. Use of effective interpersonal skills to encourage children, families/ carers and staffs active participation in the occupational therapy process.
To provide services which are sensitive to the needs of the culture and diversity of individual children and their families/ carers.
6.2 To promote educationally based occupational therapy through liaison with other health professionals, children/ families and carers, education staff, and the public and by establishing professional and departmental standards in clinical and managerial work.

In order to qualify for this job must have:
At least Bachelors degree (NO to short-term diploma/certificate due to licensing requirement)
At least 2 year post-graduate experience
DHA license or DHA eligibility letter (preferred)
With driving license or experience (advantage)
Good level of written and spoken English
