JustOT are looking to recruit a band 6 Community Mental Health Occupational Therapist for a locum position with our client in London.

The pay for this position is £22-£26 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for an ongoing duration.

Job Description:
1. Experience in the provision of standardised and non-standardised OT assessment (Including use of outcome measures),interventions guided by the Model of Human Occupation theory in line with the OT pathway within an acute mental health setting for adults.
2. The ability to liaise with Senior/Lead OT where further support and expertise are required. Provision of OT-focused home visit assessments where identified to support safe discharge planning.
3. The ability to prioritise caseload effectively, seeking support from Senior OT where required.
4. The ability to assess for moving and handling needs where appropriate and provision of minor aids - aware of the responsibility to refer to relevant professionals where needs are outside of the scope of own practice.
5. Demonstrate a knowledge of the impact of acute mental health needs on occupational performance and engagement - utilising a recovery-focused approach.
6. Ability to write and maintain accurate and timely OT reports and clinical records based on OT assessments and/or interventions and in line with the OT pathway within the service.
7. The ability to work within a fast-paced environment. The position will include cross-ward cover.
8. Work confidently as part of the Multi-disciplinary team [MDT] including liaising with external partner agencies to meet the needs of Service Users.
9. Confident in verbal and non-verbal communication skills with service users, carers (formal and informal) and other professionals involved in the care of the service user.
10. Apply a clear understanding of local safeguarding processes and an ability to organise time efficiently and prioritise workload.
11. Demonstrate flexibility in working when requested by Senior/Lead OT to prioritise tasks and attend relevant meetings concerning caseload and/or OT department.
12. Group facilitation with an understanding of continuous risk assessment and risk management.
13. To advocate for the rights and needs of patients. You are expected to have the skills required to act as a professional, HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist and adhere to the RCOT Code of Conduct.
14. Ability to assess complex mental health & well-being needs/conditions & develop, monitor and review care plans to facilitate an individual's recovery.
Successful candidates must hold a degree in occupational therapy and be HCPC registered.
