Start Date: April 24 - April 25 (1 year contact)
Hours: Full Time - Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm

The post holder will provide clinical and professionally relevant assessment, intervention and advice within college.

Job Role:

* Work as an Occupational Therapist with an educational focus as an integral part of the Occupational Therapy (OT), and wider Multi-Disciplinary Teams. You will independently manage a caseload in which you will support learners to identify occupational goals and carry out the Occupational Therapy (OT) process; using evidence based and learner-centred principles to plan, implement and evaluate interventions, whilst adhering to the guidelines of the relevant professional bodies, e.g. RCOT and HCPC. Work as a member of the OT team, providing specialist OT advice, guidance and training.
* Proactively undertake and ensure rigorous risk assessment and risk management strategies are applied, working within competency framework.
* Demonstrate communication skills that are consistent with the individual's level of understanding, culture, background and preferred methods of communication; in order to optimise interaction and form positive therapeutic relationships; this may include the use of Alternative and Augmented Communication (AAC) where appropriate.
* Contribute to the regular and qualitative supervision of occupational therapy students or Occupational Therapy Assistant's (OTA) as directed by the Senior Occupational Therapist working within the competency framework.
* Be actively involved in own appraisal process and take responsibility for evaluating own performance and identifying own training needs whilst taking responsibility for managing own caseload and delegating appropriate tasks to the OTA.
* To be involved in quality assurance activity and quality improvements
including training and performance management
* High clinical standards and contribution to quality improvement across the College in line with the needs of the service and evidence based practice.
Improved learner/citizen achievement of independence targets to support employment/ independent living outcomes.

To Qualify:

* Occupational Therapy Degree or equivalent
* Registered with HCPC
* Membership of College of Occupational Therapy
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills
* Excellent clinical reasoning and skills
* Deal with Safeguarding situations in a calm and professional manner using organisation protocols
* Have clinical/practitioner experience
* Multi-agency and partnership working
* Using personal care equipment and postural care
* Able to demonstrate motivation and be able to influence and lead others
* Experience of working with people with sensory processing needs learning disabilities and implementing strategies people with learning disabilities
