Job Role:

* To provide an occupational therapy service by assessing, implementing (by self or colleagues) and evaluating programmes of person centred care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
* This role carries no line management responsibilities, but the post holder will have a responsibility to mentor and supervise more junior members of the team
* The post holder will be expected to work effectively with the Therapy team, the nursing teams and the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team
* Responsible for working alongside and/or supporting volunteers, assistants, and students within their team
* Responsible for assessment of service user needs and to develop an appropriate person centred treatment programme to meet individual needs
* To promote choice in all aspects of clinical practice reviewing and making suggestions to enhance the service user experience and enabling concerns and complaints to be raised freely by service users and their representatives
* To liaise and communicate with other health and social care professionals and volunteers in the planning and delivery of occupational therapy
* To ensure appropriate provision and maintenance of equipment within available resources
* To ensure that up to date written and electronic records are maintained in accordance with Professional and Brainkind standards, and that sensitive information is held securely
* Responsible to share knowledge and expertise with other staff through formal and informal teaching
* Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on reasonable additional tasks
* This post holds no budgetary responsibility but will be expected to help control and minimise expenditure and costs where appropriate
* Accountable to ensure a duty of candour is followed in giving information to service users and/or their representative
* Accountable to assume clinical responsibility for the management of a specific caseload

To Qualify:

* Diploma / BSC (Hons) in Occupational Therapy
* Current and valid Registration with Health & Care Professions Council
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions using clinical reasoning.
* An ability to work autonomously and to set own and support others' priorities.
* An ability to confidently assess and manage risk in relation to occupational performance.
* An ability to organise, co-ordinate and respond efficiently to complex information.
* Competent IT skills
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on current practice
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
