Job title Clinician - ADVANCED (occupational therapist / physiotherapist / clinical scientist) - wheelchair services

Job purpose
As an autonomous practitioner you will act as lead for a specialism and:
1. Hold, prioritise, plan and organise your own caseload of service users, most of whom will have complex needs; your work is managed, rather than
supervised, and results/outcomes are assessed at agreed intervals through clinical supervision; you will be guided by precedent and policy
2. Provide high quality, service user focused assessment and prescription of manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, buggies and seating
3. Work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promoting best practice and undertaking all aspects of clinical duties
4. Provide highly advanced clinical advice to other members of the team, act as lead for a specialism and contribute to the development of clinical
5. Possess highly developed expertise within the specialism of wheelchair services, underpinned by highly developed theoretical knowledge and
6. Supervise and allocate work to rehabilitation assistants, rehabilitation engineering technicians, and foundation and intermediate level clinicians
7. Plan training sessions for internal staff and external healthcare professionals; co-ordinate the multi-disciplinary team; undertake project management

The job holder will work in a variety of settings including clinics, community centres, and service users' homes according to service requirements. In addition,
they will participate in clinical governance activity, including CPD and developing and implementing quality improvements within the service.

Duties and responsibilities
* As part of duty clinician role, use clinical reasoning skills to identify appropriate referrals and prescriptions, and prioritise referrals in accordance
with required services and the eligibility criteria
* Build and maintain key relationships with referring services, facilitating appropriate referrals and prescriptions
