Our client in Essex is looking for a Band 5/6 OT to work in Neurology
Provide direct Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and management of residents residing at the e Centre. To advise on issues related to Occupational Therapy, such as activities of daily living, manual handling, equipment and meaningful activity.
1.To work as part of the Occupational Therapy team managing caseloads and assessing the needs of residents with complex acquired neurological conditions and physical disabilities.
2.To assess, treat and manage the activities of the residents where appropriate.
3.To work and participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team engaging in team discussion and the decision-making process with regards to resident care, rehabilitation pathways and care plans.
4.To liaise with team members within the company and external bodies to ensure a safe, timely, and smooth transitional approach to discharge planning for intermediate care, and slow stream rehabilitation residents.
5.To work alongside our Occupational Therapy Lead in the provision of assessments and the development, implementation and evaluation of care pathways for our residents.
6.To provide specialist advice, equipment, intervention and occupation to maximise a residents' function and quality of life.
7.To work in accordance with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Professional Standards and Ethics as well as, relevant professional guidelines as a person who holds a duty of care for:
i.Protection and support of the health and well-being of all individual residents.
ii.Respecting the autonomy of the resident.
iii.The development, implementation and regular evaluation of programmes of occupational therapy for all residents.To maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementation and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of collaborative working.
To contribute to the decision making about occupational therapy strategies in liaison with other therapists for residents with complex physical and sensory disabilities, seeking specific/specialist advice when appropriate.
This may include:
*Specialist seating assessment
*Orthotic and splinting of limbs
*Use of information technology to promote independence
*Graduated independence in activities of daily living
