Our client in Guernsey is looking for an OT to join their team

JOB SUMMARY:

The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the Therapy and Enabling Team, Adult Disability Service. They will manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. Providing an efficient, effective and co-ordinated Occupational Therapy Service to the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
The Occupational Therapist will maintain clinical records and participate in service development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy within Adult Community Services Directorate as appropriate.
RELATIONSHIPS:
The post holder is professionally accountable to the Advanced Occupational Therapist and is responsible to the Team Manager & Therapy Lead, Therapy & Enabling Service.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional Practice
*To maintain professional standards and behaviour as specified by the Professional Standards for Occupational Therapy Practice (2007) and in accordance with local policies and legislation.
*To adhere to and apply the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for Occupational Therapists.
*To work autonomously, managing a defined client group.
*To carry out and record comprehensive assessment and treatment intervention as per legal and professional guidelines and standards and in accordance with local policy.
*To formulate and deliver specific Occupational Therapy treatment programmes using evidence based practice and skilled clinical reasoning.
*To use effective communication, reasoning and negotiation skills when working with service user and their carers, as well as the Therapy & Enabling team and the wider Adult Disability multi-disciplinary team.
*To work collaboratively with the service user, their carers and the MDT to set agreed realistic goals, actions and outcomes.
*To provide support, guidance, teaching and clinical supervision to Therapy Technicians, Assistants and students.
*To actively participate in supervision and appraisal, using reflection and analysis to inform practice and identify training needs as required by the Health Care Professions Council.

KEY CRITERIA:

Minimum Qualifications
.Degree in Occupational Therapy.
2.Current HCPC registration.
3.Evidence of CPD in accordance with HCPC and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) guidelines.

Essential
4.Knowledge and experience of community integration, enabling purposeful occupation.
5.Knowledge and understanding of application of the Occupational Therapy process, including assessments and interventions relevant to Learning Disability (LD) & Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
6.The ability to contribute the specialist skills of an Occupational Therapist to the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
7.A good understanding of and experience in the therapy & enabling of people with LD & ASD within a community setting.
8.Experience working as a Learning Disability & Autism Occupational Therapist.
9.Broad knowledge of assessment and treatment approaches in Learning Disability & Autism Occupational Therapy.
10.Ability to demonstrate effective clinical reasoning.
11.Use of Occupational Therapy outcome measures.
12.Ability to define the contribution of the Occupational Therapy to the multi-disciplinary team.
13.Sound understanding of the Safe Guarding process.
14.Ability to work under pressure and manage own workload.
15.Basic IT skills.
16.Possession of good verbal and written communication skills in order to produce professional and comprehensive reports as required.
17.Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance.
18.Commitment to service user-centred, non -discriminatory practice.
19.Willingness to work flexibly.
20.Possession of valid category B driving licence.
21.Enthusiastic team member.
