Our lovely client is looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work in Neurology
Reporting to the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapy, you will be a core member of the Allied Health Professions team, working autonomously and responsible for the coordination, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and reassessment of the care of patients within the caseload, whilst maintaining appropriate documentation.
You will work closely with other Occupational Therapists and the wider interdisciplinary team to provide an integrated OT provision to patients across the hospital site.
Key responsibilities-
*Carry continuing responsibility for the coordination and assessment of patient's occupational therapy needs across the site, providing assessment, establishing goals and appropriate OT interventions, necessary protocols and risk assessments
*Provide a holistic, patient-centred approach to care planning and OT interventions
*Ensure that accurate patient care records are maintained in accordance with legal and professional requirements
*Using recognised occupational therapy model, be fully responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and reassessment of the occupational therapy programme, without constant supervision
*Based on identified need, make requisitions for items of loan equipment, refer to and liaise with other agencies as appropriate
*Provide autonomous, skilled occupational therapy to clients in both hospital and community services, adapting to a changing workload throughout the day
*Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base and skill development that reflects local need and an evidence-based approach to practice. Follow and participate in appropriate training, develop and enhance competencies in a wide range of clinical skills encompassing neuro specialties
*Liaise with all members of the interdisciplinary team. Participate in multi-agency and inter-professional approach to service delivery and in assuming the key worker/advocacy role as appropriate, attending case conference and joint assessments
*Provide cross-cover for occupational therapy colleagues as required
*Participation in departmental audits and service evaluations projects, collecting statistical information and writing reports
*Foster a culture of reflective practice and self-awareness within the occupational therapy team
*Be vigilant at all times to potential risks involved in working within an unpredictable and challenging environment
*Maintain safe, high standards of practice by being familiar with all current professional, local and NHS issues, attending meetings and courses as identified and appropriate, maintain up-to-date knowledge base
*Independent and autonomous caseload management
