JustOT is working on an exciting Mental Health opportunity in South London. Our client is looking for an experienced OT to work in an inpatient mental health unit.

Our client is looking for an OT to work in an inpatient Hospital offering both medium and low secure services for men and women detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) and who benefit from extended treatment and rehabilitation.

Care is centred on a collaborative approach between staff and patients, led by the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), whilst supporting patients to develop their own expectations of what they can achieve. We have a clear care pathway for our patients, along which they are given the opportunity to develop new skills, optimise functioning, and maximise their quality of life; with the transparent aim of progressing towards a discharge on to the least restrictive setting possible and greater independence.

Duties will include -

Managing patients using evidence based and patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, which provide patients with the confidence, skills and coping strategies required for independent living.
Supporting the Lead Occupational Therapist with managing the Occupational Therapy Service.
Managing and co-ordinating the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication by the occupational therapists.
Receiving and responding promptly to new admissions, undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis. The OT team follows MOHO (Model of Human Occupation). Ensuring the team maintains accurate and timely records detailing each patient's rehabilitation / progress.
Taking the lead within the Occupational Therapy Team in the absence of the Lead Occupational Therapist. Monitoring the activity budget and takes a lead on resource purchases.
Ensuring the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.

The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of an innovative service model focussed on promoting recovery in patients.

The successful applicant will have:

Clinical experience including some experience of working within a secure setting.
Current HCPC registration and full BAOT membership with evidence of continuing professional development.
