We are recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to work within our clients Access team.
The Senior Occupational Therapist will assist the Service Manager to ensure the delivery of a person-centred service for adults with social care needs to maximise functional independence. This includes the supervision of Occupational Therapy staff, social care assessors and sensory staff whose role includes provision of daily living equipment and minor home adaptations to homes.
The work does not involve long term complex casework rather is fast paced throughput requiring an excellent working knowledge of a local authorities statutory responsibilities.
The Senior Occupational Therapist will work closely with the Service Manager to oversee the delivery and evaluation of interventions to ensure continued improvement of the service.
To provide operational and motivational leadership of staff, promoting a good working environment with the primary aim of delivering high quality services.
To provide case management, guidance, support and expert advice to Occupational Therapy and social care staff, students and partner staff as and when required, maintaining the highest level of professional service and ensuring that the assessment and provision of services is in accordance with the Care Act 2014 guidelines and Council policies.
To provide professional supervision for Occupational Therapy staff, including social care assessors who prescribe equipment and minor adaptations. This will include thorough induction of new staff, maintaining supervision records, undertaking regular case file audits, and identifying continuing professional development and training needs of the staff, working with the Service / Locality Manager and Lead Occupational Therapist to meet these needs.
To facilitate service user choice and empowerment through promoting independence and the personalisation agenda through all stages of assessment, support planning and review to enable service users to maintain independence for as long as possible.
