Location: Bahrain Middle East
Salary: 18,000 BHD per annum (this is tax free)
Hours: 07:00-15:00 - 5 days a week.
Accommodation Allowance 8,000 BHD per annum

Situated in Riffa, the school is everything you would be looking for if you are a parent of a child that has special education needs. So much so, that parents who have previously seen their children struggling to achieve expected levels of attainment in a mainstream education establishment, should be especially pleased about this addition to Bahrains educational offering.
The school ensures the children are taught in classes with low teacher-pupil ratios and several teaching assistants in each class, to facilitate one-on-one attention. The children have access to the British National Curriculum, International Primary Curriculum, NCFE, BTEC and GCSEs.
All children have access to a high quality indoor and outdoor learning environments and a broad and balanced curriculum.
Job Role:

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the provision of an Occupational Therapy service at and for the development of a whole-school internal and outreach provision within that area. This includes assessment and intervention to develop occupational performance skills in children with a range of motor and visual perceptual difficulties. Management of children with conditions such as dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Brain Injury, Developmental Delay, Specific Language Disorders.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a screening assessment and summary for all new applicants to the Academy and other private clients.
Identification of those children who may require full OT assessment prior to a place being considered for them at TCA, and those who will require full assessment on school entry.
Liaising with other professionals both within and outside the Academy, who are working with potential present or past pupils.

Identifying children on entry to the Academy, who require Occupational Therapy. Devising and executing appropriate occupational therapy programmes for children either individually or in small groups. Providing occupational therapy support integrated into the class setting and monitoring and evaluating their programmes

Providing occupational therapy as part of the Academys outreach service provision.
Working within the classroom paired with a teacher on a timetabled basis.

Maintaining individual pupils records and report back on their progress to staff and parents as appropriate.

Working with colleagues to produce IEPs, monitoring progress and providing evidence.
Writing reports on individual pupils receiving O.T. for school records and parents. Meeting with parents of present children to discuss their progress.
Providing information in relation to childrens Statements of Special Educational Needs and contribution to Annual Reviews as appropriate.
Supporting and advising teachers and remedial staff with regard to Occupational Therapy, and supervising on any input which is not conducted by the O.T. personally.
Ensuring that all members of staff are aware of the Academy's handwriting policy and evaluating and up-dating the policy as appropriate.
Working together with the Physiotherapist and Speech and Language Therapists in developing and delivering a social skills programme for selected children
Organising the POTS timetable, ensuring staff are comfortable delivering POTS and providing necessary feedback
Ensuring staff is made aware of any visual problems that may affect task performance.
Ordering and maintaining resources relating to O.T. provision within the Academy.

Requirements:

At least three years experience of working with primary aged children
a recognised professional qualification
sound understanding of child development and childrens needs
experience (and preferable qualified) to be able to deliver sensory integration
