A number of new jobs for occupational therapists and other medical professionals may become available in Waveney if plans for the development of a health facility go ahead.
Proposals for the creation of a £9 million centre have been submitted to the local council and a decision is expected to be made in the next couple of months.
South Waveney Healthy Living Centre would provide local people with a range of services and it is intended for a site in Reydon, near Southwold.
The board of NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney - which provides health care for a population of around 230,000 - has already agreed to the scheme in principle.
Head of estates for the organisation Andy Peck remarked: "The centre, if approved, will serve 22,000 people and will support the development of integrated health services."
He added that the project is "exciting" for people living in the area, as well as for the primary care trust.
