The efforts of an occupational therapist have been recognised by a local authority.
During a recent ceremony, Devon County Council presented an award to Sharon Clemence from the Barnstaple Child Development Centre.
The medical professional, who is head of occupational therapy at the facility, won the Achieving Excellence trophy.
She was nominated by Miriam Fallon, a colleague at the centre, which is located on Vicarage Street in Barnstaple.
Ms Fallon said: "I have worked as an occupational therapist for 20 years in a number of different settings and I can honestly say I have never worked for a better and more well respected manager."
She added that Ms Clemence creates a challenging, motivating and positive atmosphere for people to work in.
The prize was presented by councillors Christine Channon and Andrea Davis and was one of a number of trophies handed out to local public service employees.
