A female volunteer and her dog have been presented with the Baroness Wall award after being nominated for it by an occupational therapist.
Paula Rowe and pets-as-therapy helper Izzy received the accolade at the Barnet and Chase Farm hospital Annual General Meeting in Hendon Hall last week, This is Local London reports.
During her seven years of volunteer work, Ms Rowe has helped out at Chase Farm's stroke ward, as well as children's wards in the area.
She was recognised for helping the occupational therapy department to set up its programme for animal-assisted treatment.
Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital NHS Trust is based in north London and serves more than half a million people based around Waltham Forest, south Essex, south Hertfordshire, Haringey, Enfield and Barnet.
It claims to offer "high quality, specialist hospital treatments and therapies" and aims to be admired by both patients and stakeholders for its services.
